What is VAWA?

VAWA is a humanitarian law that allows immigrant spouses, children, and parents of U.S. citizens or green card holders to self-petition for legal status if they’ve experienced abuse/problems in the relationship.  You do not need the abuser’s permission or participation to apply or qualify.

How do I qualify For VAWA?

-You are (or were) married to a U.S. citizen or green card holder; are a child of a U.S. citizen or GC holder; or are the parent of a U.S. citizen

-You lived with them, even briefly

-You experienced emotional, verbal, physical, financial, or sexual abuse

-You are a person of good moral character

Don’t worry if you don’t have police reports. We’ve helped our clients win VAWA cases based on their own declarations and supporting documents.
