10-Year Green Card for Our VAWA Client

We are pleased to announce another win at our firm! We secured a 10-year green card for a client under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), based on their relationship with their U.S. citizen child.  Our team is overjoyed to celebrate yet another win for another one of our deserving clients!

In this situation, our client had entered the U.S. illegally approximately 30 years ago.  She entered with her husband, who later abandoned her.  She raised 2 U.S. citizen children on her own, working under the table, taking any job she could, to make ends meet.  Understandably, this caused a significant amount of stress within the family and her relationship with her eldest daughter became difficult.  Her daughter acted out, was rebellious, and this resulted in mental and emotional anguish for our client.  We used this relationship to apply for VAWA.  With this legal strategy, our client was able to become a permanent resident.  In 5 years, she will be eligible for citizenship.  This is the first time in 30 years she feels safe and is able to start each day without fear of deportation.

Although she had visited other attorneys over her 30 years in the U.S., she was never screened for VAWA.  When she came to our law firm about 3 and a half years ago, we noted she couldn’t adjust status due to her illegal entry.  However, based on her story, we determined she qualified for VAWA and permanent residence.

The first thing she said? “I can’t wait to see my mother!”  We hope you have a wonderful visit and congratulations on your win from all of us at Agarwal Law Group😊
